Are you familiar with Pinterest yet? Pinterest is a site that allows you to build a virtual “binder” of images you love. You create an account, set up boards (as many as you like, themed however you wish) and “pin” images from around the web (that handbag you love at J. Crew, that house you covet from Coastal Living, that amazing dessert from Bon Appetit—you name it).
This is right up my alley. I’ve been saving images I love for years—in folders on my hard drive, in my IE Favorites. I have physical binders at home with clipping after clipping from magazines. When I was designing Lucy and Finn’s rooms, as well as our playroom, I made collages in PowerPoint to see how things looked together (very amateur “mood boards”). Now you can capture everything in one place and it is accessible from any PC or even your phone.
You can “follow” other pinners and re-pin images from their boards to yours. And others can follow you. There are so many amazing images to inspire you! WARNING: It’s addictive!
There’s a red button on the right side of my blog that you can click to view my boards on Pinterest. Take a look and see if it’s something you would enjoy! If it is, you can request an invitation to join. It takes about a week or two (yes, kind of annoying), but you’ll be happy you did!
Are any of you already on Pinterest? What’s your favorite part?
