Becky Woomer of Suburban Matron is the ideal blog writer—funny, self-deprecating, and unabashedly honest. Her accounts of life in suburban Atlanta—she has nicknamed her neighbors such names as Frenemy Neighbor, Normal Neighbor, Bunco Girl and Conspiracy Guy—will have you laughing out loud. Last year, she battled (and beat) breast cancer with remarkable grace and strength, never losing her sense of humor. She is a mother of two and you will undoubtedly relate to her trials and triumphs.

Jenny Rosenstrach is the former Features Director of the now defunct (and dearly missed in my mailbox) Cookie magazine (and now co-author of the cookbook Time for Dinner).  After Cookie was forced to fold in 2009, Jenny started Dinner, A Love Story—a blog centered on family-friendly meals for busy families (with the occasional grown-up meal or cocktail recipe thrown into the mix). Turns out, she had lots of material saved up, as she’d kept a journal of every meal she’d made since 1998.

Jenny and her husband, Andy (a frequent guest contributor), have two young daughters and a desire for fresh, well-prepared food, but also a refreshingly laid back (and often humorous) outlook on how it all comes together. And they share my affinity for Trader Joe’s! What’s not to love?

The DALS recipes are spelled out in easy-to-follow steps and Jenny makes sure to point out when starting from scratch is completely unnecessary. She understands the plight of the modern, busy parent who still wants to provide healthy, delicious meals to their family.
